Hi there, my name is Emanuel Arevalo but most people know me as Manny. I am currently a sophomore majoring in Psychology and my career goal is to become a licensed professional counselor with a specialty in trauma focused behavioral therapy. I am most excited to get research under my belt and gain new understanding of culture of the valley. My hobbies include figure collecting, running, dancing and karaoke and I'm a big fan of Star Wars and DC Comics.
Hi, my name is Ximena Galvan, and I am currently a junior at UTRGV majoring in Psychology with a minor in Political Science. I plan to pursue a master’s degree in a branch of psychology with the intention of becoming a therapist specializing in substance abuse. I am thrilled to be joining the BRANCH Research Lab to further explore cultural studies, raise awareness, and advance my research proficiency. Outside of my academic pursuits, I enjoy staying active through pilates, yoga, and strength training. I also enjoy reading, volunteering with the Special Olympics Organization, and learning both French and American Sign Language.
My name is Yaren Prime, and I am a senior undergraduate student majoring in psychology and minoring in philosophy. My goal is to pursue a Ph.D. So that I can conduct my own research and teach. My interests center on sport psychology, with a focus on how mental practices shape body image and eating behaviors among athletes. By joining the BRANCH Lab, I look forward to gaining hands-on research experience and exploring the cultural and psychological factors that influence health behaviors and resistance. Outside of academics, I enjoy yoga, crochet, and cooking.
